It's a Girl Thing
Moms and their 9 to 12 year old daughters come together during this two hour program to discuss changes that occur during puberty and to promote communication skills. Upcoming dates are May 12, June 5 and July 3.
Parenting Basics
Appropriate for parents of children 1 to 12 years of age, this 90 minute class provides simple, effective rules for managing your children's behavior and helps identify the discipline errors that parents commonly make. A new parenting topic is addressed in each independent program.
Diabetes Management
This four-week class is for individuals recently diagnosed with diabetes. The class will teach self-management skills through meal planning, exercise and glucose monitoring. To register, contact the Diabetes Management Center at 724-284-4374.
Lamaze
A six-week class in which expectant mothers and their coaches learn various methods to help them prepare for the birth of the baby. Please register two weeks prior to the first class.
Breastfeeding
This class explores breast preparation during pregnancy, discusses suggestions to make breastfeeding successful and offers helpful ideas for mothers who must return to work. Upcoming dates are May 22, June 19 and July 17.
Highmark Personal Nutrition Coaching
Work with a registered dietitian to formulate a personalized plan that addresses all of your nutrition concerns such as weight management, heart health and diabetes. One initial session and six follow-up sessions in a calendar year. This program is free to those with Highmark insurance.
Highmark Osteoporosis Prevention and Education Program (HOPE)
A six-week lifestyle improvement program that focuses on healthy choices to prevent or manage osteoporosis. Each class includes one hour of education and one hour of strength training with resistance bands.
Eat Well For Life I and II
A series of two lifestyle improvement programs, each over six weeks, that promotes wellness and long-term weight management through balanced nutrition, cooking demonstrations and other hands-on experiences. Part II series begins April 16.
Discover Relaxation Within
A six-week, six-class lifestyle improvement program that helps individuals identify everyday stressors and teach specific relaxation techniques to evoke relaxation and reduce and manage stress.
